Departure: Giorgi Kvilitaia leaves Rapid
Despite currently being out with an injury, striker Giorgi Kvilitaia has left the club with immediate and signed for KAA Gent. Kvilitaia has signed a four-year contract with the Belgian top-flight outfit. Having signed from Dinamo Tbilisi in August 2016, the 13-cap Georgian international made 67 competitive appearances in Green & White, scoring 22 goals. As Kvilitaia initially made his move to Hütteldorf on a contract until 2020, a transfer fee has been agreed between the two clubs. The exact figure will remain undisclosed.
On Kvilitaia's departure, Sporting Director Fredy Bickel had the following to say: "In the past there has been plenty of interest in Giorgi Kvilitaia from clubs in different countries, so this move hasn’t come as a surprise. Both personally and on behalf of the SK Rapid, I wish him only the best for the next stage in his career. Giorgi enriched our team both as a player and a person. We’re going to analyse the situation, keep an eye on Andrea Pavlovic's recovery and then decide if we need to add to our striking options", explained the 53-year old Swiss.
