For the first time since Spetember 21st, influential captain Steffen Hofmann was missing from the Rapid starting line up. Experienced fin Markus Heikinnen was partnered by Prager in his absence. First meaningful attack almost yields reward for the Hütteldorfers. It took aabout 20 minutes for the Hanappi clash to begin to boil. A quality cross from Drazan, who floating in the hole behind the strikers, found it's way to Trimmel whose instinctive effort went just wide of the upright, failing to work Cavlina in the visitors' goal. Rapid came even closer just a minute later as the Graz keeper was called into action to deny Drazan on 21 minutes. Five minutes later Drazan again tried his luck, this time from distance. The youngster's effort flashed just inches past the post. The Green-Whites really started to apply the pressure with half an hour on the clock. Bodul fired of a 29th minute shot in anger for the visitors, but Foda's men were looking decidely second best still. Burgstaller tried his luck in the 35th minute following a lovely lay off from Gartler, but his effort missed the target. Gartler and Prager combined to set up a 44th minute opportunity for Markus Katzer: the adventurous full back also failed to beat Cavlina however and both sides went into the break goalless. Trimmel gives Rapid the leadThe first 10 minutes of the second half saw the ball getting bogged down in a midfield tussle. As if right on cue to reassert Hütteldorfer dominace, Christopher Trimmel popped up in the 55th minute to hand Rapid the lead with a left foot effort. With the crowd firmly at their backs, the the Viennese pushed forward, not offering the Styrian visitors a way out of their own half. Atdhe Nuhiu came on for Gartler and had an immediate effect, getting on the end of a Drazan cross in the 72nd minute to double the lead. The roar from inside the stadium could be heard all around Penzing. Exciting closing phase With 15 minutes left on the clock Drazan again set up big forward Nuhiu who obliged with the finish, making the scoreline 3:0. Just when Rapid thought it was safe to celebrate, Bodul popped up with goals in the 77th and 84th minutes to set the cat amongst the pigoens. Luckily Rapid regained their composure and were able to steady the ship. No more alarms were served up before the end of the game and the Green Whites ran out worthy 3:2 winners. tipp3-Bundesliga, 13th:SK Rapid - SK Sturm Graz 3:2 (0:0)Hanappi-Stadion, 17.000, Referee DrachtaGoals: 1:0 (55.)
